Our first Award Winning Music Video – We Love the Same

This weekend last year, we were part of a very special project. In the run up to the marriage equality referendum of 2015, Cork Choir, Choral Con Fusion took it on themselves to compose, perform and promote a song for equality. The song was entitled “We Love The Same – A song for equality”. A few weeks beforehand, my brother Denis (being involved in the choir), asked if we could pitch a few ideas to them for a music video. So, my good friend Darragh Coakley put our heads together; Grá againn mar an gcéanna #wlts The first thing that struck us I guess as the potential scale of the thing – the number of performers, locations etc.. could have been a big challenge. But in fairness, after a good few meet-ups and copious amounts of tea and coffee, together with the guys and girls of the choir, we nailed down a rough concept that looked promising…   The Concept The concept was simple enough. Involve as many people in the choir as possible. Using Cork as the stage, mix in some live action footage from a nice Cork location or number of locations and through in an epic stage…

Gerard and Graham

This wedding took place at the Roman Camp Hotel in Callender, Scotland; quite close to Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Though a small intimate wedding, Gerard and Graham’s ceremony was warm and memorable. Great fun to photograph.

Photo of the Week Project

Well, I am now well over the half way mark in my Photo of the Week project for 2014. Though I did not take a new photo every week, I did find it take the majority of images over the course of the year. I’ve found the whole experience personally fulfilling and it’s great to share images with friends and hear their comments and reactions. In fact, it is often the images that I might not like that much myself that gain most attention with viewers. This year has been a pretty busy one for me and once I’m over the next couple of weeks, I hope to continue some other photo projects that I’ve had in the pipeline for a while now. I won’t give it all away now, but I can say that I’ll be publishing some photo essays and exhibiting in a location to be confirmed in the coming months. For more on the POTW project, go to the “My Work” section. Slán go foill, Shane
